Over 70 campers age between 5 and 15 came together to experience first hand spiritual principles laid by saints and mystics for thousands of years. The principles are still relevant and most important for growing children as they embark their life journey in the challenging world. The camp allowed them to explore some of the inner strengths that they already have and prepare themselves to achieve wonders. In the early Saturday morning, children were ecstatically waiting to join the camp. Parents were equally enthusiastic and determined to beat the typical cold and snowy Minnesota weather and allow their children the opportunity to explore inner self. They knew the program teaches them the art and science of meditation yet teach them in a fun and playful way. For many campers this was not the first time, they had tasted the fun and wanted to have great time again. Harold and Mary Berjohn who had travelled over 650 miles just to share an afternoon with eager children felt all the driving and time away from home was worth the joy they saw.
The camp started with a mandatory sessions for parents and campers to understands the goals of camp and to recognize the importance of spiritual education in children. Mary, Ashwini and Harold got the children together and introduced the concept of meditation through a workshop on meditation. Curious campers had several questions and and amazement peeping through twinkling eyes. After the meditation the campers joined yoga session with experience yoga instructors, Punjabhai Ji and Prem Borse. Both shared yoga practice to stay healthy for life. All favorite Pizza lunch followed. After the lunch the campers posed for group picture to capture the moment's memory for life time. The afternoon started with educational workshops on practical spirituality. Children enjoyed the games full of fun and spirit of team the games challenged the campers imagination and problem solving together. The camp closed with camp fire and camp songs, children in groups danced on the tunes of Macarina, Saints marching in, and bum-bum bole. The songs brought a great fun filled 6 hours of camp seemingly ended in a short time. Enjoy the album here.
