Holi Satsang, 08
14th March, 2008 - Black Hawk Middle School
Science of Spirituality Eagan organized a special satsang on
Holi, the festival of colors. The satsang was based on a discourse by
Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj on the true meaning of festival of Holi.
Maharaj Ji related Holi to inner colors we experience during the
meditation. He also related the Holi to the love between a disciple
and the beloved Master. The satsang was based on hymns by Mira
Bai and Master Darshan's own poetry. A video of Sant Rajinder Singh Ji
Maharaj was also played. Maharaj Ji explained how the Holi festival
was started and related the story of Prahalad to love for Lord that helps us
pass through all difficulties in life.
A total of 75 people including children enjoyed the satsang
and the cultural programs during the Holi satsang. Children presented
a skit on Bhakta Prahalad's legendary story and a dazzling Qawali on
colors. The Qawali represented the children of the rainbow reflecting
multiple colors emanating from a single source, the divine light. The
Qawali was prepared to be presented later in a Holi Celebration at Hindu
Temple. Sharma Uncle then made every one laugh with his hilarious
poem. Ha later uplifted the audience with his folk song.
Everyone joined him in singing and dancing. Every one used Gulal and
shared sweets with each other in a traditional way to remember the Holi as a
festival of unity in diversity, love and harmony.
