Youth Angels Day Camp
March 07, 2009
Children of Minneapolis metro joined an exciting
spiritual camp on March 7th organized by Science of Spirituality
Minnesota. Learning meditation is not an easy subject for adults let
alone children. But when the divine message was delivered in a fun
filled environment, not only children but also parents enjoyed a full day of
fun filled educational activities. Each activity was full of universal
spiritual messages. Spirituality is not limited to any religion or
specific tradition. All human beings have birth right to get connected
to the higher self. The benefits are all round. With so many
great aspects of meditation and the inner strength it brings is tremendous.
Then why not children take advantage of it earliest in their lives.
Such was an effort of Science of Spirituality Minnesota volunteers.
The one day camp called Youth Angels Day Camp was filled with fun from the
moment it began. Children were teamed to learn more about their
buddy while parents got introduced to what their children are going to learn
in the camp. volunteers showed captions of year round activities for
children. Later the volunteers presented a skit with a simple message.
Saints from all ages brought a simple message to humanity, that is peace is
within and one can find it through meditation. Children experienced
their favorite avatars realized almost in real during the skit. In the skit,
an ordinary boy (Simon) is confused and frustrated with conflicting
situations in life. He finally calls God to help and God appears.
God then takes Simon to a journey back in time and gives him
experiences of saints coming in many ages and giving their messages.
All messages had a common theme. Simon is finally convinced that the
path to peace is within through meditation while he does his day-to-day
work. There were separate workshops for junior and senior campers.
Each came up with message of how ethical living keeps us in harmony
with God’s creation and therefore peaceful and fulfilled.
Children were also given meditation instructions with a small demo of Inner
light. Later all campers played games and enjoyed sing-along camp fire
songs, while guest musician and singer Michael Schubalm sang and played
Guitar. There were pizzas and many other snacks for children
throughout the camp.
Here are some comments from parents and volunteers,
after the camp:
It was a very fulfilling experience for my daughter
Tanvi. She loved it and demonstrated the yoga and other activities at home.
She thoroughly enjoyed the skit as well and was thrilled that she got to see
Shri Krishna in "person". She is a big fan of the Krishna series.
I really appreciate all efforts of members in organizing this great event!
Thanks,
Chetana

It was an awesome event with lots of fun for the
kids and the kids at heart alike. I had a blast performing in the skit. But
the singing the songs part of the camp was truly awesome. That was the best
part for me in the whole camp.
thanks

It was a fantastic camp and a great experience as a
counselor. Srilekha really enjoyed the camp and she liked every activity.
She was telling me that "Amma, I wish camp could be there from early
morning to until over night". She is conscious about her dialing
number(763) too.
It was so much pleasure to be in the camp. Eagerly
waiting for the video now
