What
a fabulous day!! 37 Campers and 31 volunteers pulled it all together. There
was not a single moment when we all were not learning or having fun. These
were exciting times for many campers as well as volunteers.
The
camp started with art activities, and campers got friendly with each other. It
was an “ice-breaker” activity whereby a junior camper and a senior
camper learned about each other.
Parents
were introduced to Science of Spirituality in a fun way with a question and
answer session. Parents got entertained and got to know Sant Rajinder Singh Ji
Maharaj and his mission. Local
programs were introduced and parents learned that meditation is not
something only adults could do.
In
meditation workshops, campers learned about meditation. Meditation
not only increases concentration and improves health, it also helps children
do better in their studies and stay calm during day-to-day ups and
downs.
Overall,
campers learned benefits of meditation to help us balance our lives and know
our true potential. A couple of
interesting demos helped campers picture the benefits of meditation.
An
all-favorite pizza lunch brought smiles to campers and volunteers together. After
the pizza lunch, campers had another fun set of workshops on ethical virtues
and leadership through selfless service. Campers learned the important virtues through skits,
discussions, stories and other fun activities.
Game
time was an exciting time for campers as they raced to make words from
scrambled letters and quotes from scrambled words. A
quiz race was a fun way to win the race by answering questions correctly.
The
camp ended after some melodious camp songs. Parents
and campers all joined to sing along and became children for a while. All
of us paraded to the song "O when the saints go marching in." All
of the children went home with their artifacts and balloons.Continue reading below...
Here
are some joyous comments from campers and their parents to all the
volunteers:
Sahil
attended the camp organized and held by the SOS organization. I
wanted to tell you that we are very grateful to the organization and
all the volunteers who were responsible for organizing such a nice and
refreshing event for the kids. My son, Sahil thoroughly enjoyed the
activities and was very happy at the end of the day. He was even able
to give some insight about the spiritual aspects of the camp. Overall
it was a new and refreshingly different experience for him. Chetana
